About This Event
Pianist Carmen Staaf--frequent collaborator of Jenny Scheinman and Allison Miller, musical director for NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater--returns with a program that plumbs the depths of jazz piano history through the converging currents of two modern geniuses, Thelonious Monk and Mary Lou Williams, in a mix of duets, trios, and quartets with veteran clarinetist & composer Ben Goldberg, vibraphonist (and Marimba One artist) Dillon Vado, and up-and-coming Bay Area drummer Hamir Atwal.
